Question: My son and I recently purchased a 1999 Isuzu N class 14 ft van with a 175 HP diesel engine. He intends to use it as a platform for servicing diesel trucks. We are currently outfitting the truck with various service equipment: generator, air compressor etc. We wanted to know what problems we would encounter by running some 110 volt circuits off the generator for lights and shop tools. We intended to use a generator circuit breaker with 6 circuits. |
Answer:
As long as the generator is not connected to the vehicles wiring system you should be OK. If you connect to the chassis wiring system in any way with the auxiliary generator, the feedback could hurt either the engine or transmission computers.
